A plea for 2015

Most fervent wish for 2015 – well, apart from that one – is that people in the public realm stop using the phrase “we must make sure this never happens again”. If you have the power to prevent something happening again, it implies you had the power to stop it happening in the first place. Foresight is smart; hindsight has its uses, but it’s not the same. So please, pretty please, pretty please with cream and sugar and sprinkles, can we stop trotting out the same old platitudes?
